Why Yoga?

Yoga comes from the root word in Sanskrit ‘Yuj’ which means ‘union’. This union can be interpreted through differing perspectives, with the initial concept referring to the synchronicity of mind and body. We are often challenged by this separation between the two and unaware of this.

Practicing yoga, you will be more tuned in to your mind and body and these techniques can be integrated into other areas of your life such as work or family life. A client of mine uses breathing exercises (pranayama) being taught in class to handle stressful situations at work and with her children. She also teaches her children postures (asanas) she learns, giving them a fun, healthy activity together. Another client manages her back pain by practicing a sequence she learned to ease the pain and it helps her when needed, not simply within class time.

At any age and stage of life, the practice of yoga can benefit you physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. What made you come in search of yoga? Is it to continue or strengthen your practice? Are you interested in trying a class but unsure if yoga is right for you? The world is aware of yoga in its many forms and translations, what makes yoga worth the time and effort to you? You deserve to take great care of yourself!

The available information on yoga’s many benefits is inumerable. The real question is, why not?
